The last week of Oxford Brooke's Creative Industries Festival features range of contributors from local Caribbean artists and musicians, to Brookes researchers and archivists, to internationally successful singer-songwriter and actor Kate Nash.

Throughout May, Oxford Brookes have been running their Creative Industries Festival which sees a new theme each week. This week (24th-27th May) is the last week of the festival and its topic is Sound and Music. The virtual events taking place are:

  1. Why Paul Oliver matters: the Blues and African American music (Mon 24th)

  2. “Yuh cyah play mas if yuh fraid powder” - Caribbean legacies and creativity in Oxford (Tues 25th)

  3. The impact of the pandemic on listening and sound-making: panel with Paul Whitty (Tues 25th)

  4. Q&A with Patrick Farmer and Rebekah Alero introducing their Dandelion Project (Weds 26th)

  5. Gender and sexism in the creative industries: Q&A with actor, singer and songwriter Kate Nash (Thurs 27th)
