Don't burn your future with cigarettes

It’s National Non-Smoking day! It’s time to exchange your cigarettes for a brighter future without them. The use of cigarettes affects you, your future and your loved ones. Not worth it, right?

The number of young people who smoke continues to go down – just 2-3% of children say they smoke regularly, the lowest numbers ever.

Deciding to stop smoking is one the best decisions anyone can make. By making this decision, your health will drastically improve, you’ll be more financially stable, and you’ll feel happier!

The effects of regular smoking include

  • Major health risks like cancer, heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and dementia.
  • Death Smoking is the largest cause of premature death, killing around 78,000 people in the UK each year.
  • Academic achievement Research shows that schoolchildren and students who smoke get worse results and drop out of learning more.
  • Physical ability Smoking has an affect on your breathing and fitness. This causes a decline on the ability of a person’s physical performance.
  • Lost money Smoking is expensive. Think about the healthier and more important things you can buy instead of cigarettes!

Need some motivation? Here are some ways to help you quit smoking and create a brighter future!

  • Vow to give up smoking. Make a promise to yourself, and make sure you keep it!
  • Think about the benefits. You will have social, health and financial benefits.
  • Join Stop Smoking Programmes. Take advantage of the support you can receive from trained advisors.
  • Tell family and friends that you plan to quit. They will help you get through it. But if they don’t, then don’t talk to them!
  • E-cigarettes are really useful for some people that struggle to quit.
  • Talk to your doctor. Your doctor can provide you with medication to help with withdrawal symptoms. Remember, you can see the doctor without your parents being there.
  • Enjoy the freedom! Finally, no more worrying about the dangerous health affects caused by regular smoking.

It is important to receive the right knowledge and awareness of the consequences of smoking, and the importance of your health, physically and mentally.

Value your future, protect yourself. Say no to smoking!
