Information about the Flood Scheme for Oxford
Did you know that young people are most at risk in a flood? Research by the Environment Agency found that 18-34 year olds are least likely to know if the area they live is at risk of flooding and of the dangers of flooding.
Oxford has one of the youngest populations of any UK city, but is also one of the most vulnerable cities to flooding. Mental health impacts of flooding can last for two years or more.
- Everyone can sign up to receive free flood warnings online or by calling Floodline on 0345 988 1188.
- The Oxford Flood Alleviation Scheme will reduce flood risk to all properties in Oxford currently at risk of flooding from the River Thames. The project team plan to submit the planning application this winter.
- Visit the scheme website for full details, follow them on Facebook Twitter and Instagram. and sign up for their e-newsletter by emailing oxfordscheme@environment-agency.gov.uk.
