Tell us your way to quit smoking this national no smoking day

National No Smoking Day has been running every year since 1984. In 2018, more people are quitting smoking than ever before.

People quit smoking for lots of different reasons:

  • To save money
  • To improve their health
  • To help keep friends and families healthy

Everyone has their own reasons, and everyone has their own way to quit. What helped for you? This year the challenge is to #tellusyourway to quit smoking, and find inspiration in the successes of others. Here are some stories of people quitting smoking in Oxfordshire to inspire you:

I told my friends I was quitting and that they shouldn't give me any more cigarettes. Just like that. They all supported me even though they were carrying on smoking; they were my friends and good people and they understood and supported me, even when I said I wanted a cigarette they said "no you're quitting". I have been happily smoke free for three years now. - J

I stopped smoking to improve my health and save money. I used nicotine tablets to help, even though I hated them. It took time and determination but I got there, and I have been an ex-smoker for more than eight years now. - T

I switched to vaping about five years ago. I was a heavy smoker before that - 30 cigarettes a day. I've never looked back. It's more convenient and I don't have to worry about damaging other people's health. I've tried a cigarette a few times since but they tasted horrible compared to vaping. - J
