Description

Passionate about film? This short course offers you the chance to be part of our future film industry. 

We are seeking 12 creative young people to be a part of the BFI Film Academy delivered by Film Oxford in partnership with Screen South. 

Qualifications

Who can apply?  Any young person 16-19 years (16-25 with an EHCP), passionate about film or filmmaking, storytelling,  and looking for a career in the film or creative industry.

There are no qualification requirements just a simple application form and we can offer support to apply.  Before applying, please check that you can attend all of the course dates.

If you have already completed a BFI Film Academy or you are studying at University, unfortunately, you are not able to apply. Students on Further Education courses or Sixth Form are eligible.

Training

As a student of the Film Academy, you will have the opportunity to: 

  • Get hands-on filmmaking experience and work in teams to produce a short film. 
  • Meet and gain invaluable experience from industry professionals. 
  • Work towards an NCFE qualification ‘Preparing To Work In The Film Industry’ 
  • Apply for National Residential Academies in Documentary, Animation, Visual Effects, and BAFTA mentoring.

Optional: We are asking those who have a passion for story-telling to submit an idea or script for a short 3-4 minute film along with their application. This is not a requirement for the application process.

This is a free course and travel bursaries are available if required.

When: The Course will run through October/November 2024 and will take place during half-term week and one Saturday.

Dates: Mon 28th October – Friday 1st November & Saturday 9th November 2024

Times: 9.30-5pm
