Free Emergency Hormonal Contraception is available for young people in Oxfordshire

Young people aged 21 and under can access Emergency Hormonal Contraception (EHC) free of charge from most pharmacists in Oxfordshire.

EHC is taken by people with a female reproductive system to help prevent unwanted pregnancy.

EHC is also available from local Sexual Health Services and other health services.

Take action: Download a list of Oxfordshire pharmacies providing Emergency Hormonal Contraception or visit the Sexual Health Oxfordshire website for more details

What is Emergency Hormonal Contraception?

If you have had unprotected sex, or if your normal contraception fails, emergency contraception helps prevent unwanted pregnancy.

EHC can be taken up to 120 hours after unprotected sex, but the sooner it is taken the more effective it is.

Good to know: If you are over 21, you can still access Emergency Hormonal Contraception, but you may need to pay, for example, if you are getting it from the pharmacist.
