What really helps your mental wellbeing around results day? Being prepared, talking to friends and family, and knowing where to get help if you need it can all support you

Results Day is an exciting time. But it can also be stressful. Being prepared and knowing what to expect will help.

You can get lots of information about mental wellbeing. Find out more about supporting your mental wellbeing.

Being prepared:

Help yourself by being prepared and knowing what to expect. 

  1. Know how and when you’re getting your results
  2. Know who you are collecting results with - a friend,  a family member?
  3. Know who you can talk to about your results if they are a surprise

Your school, college, or place of learning should have support ready if you need it. 

Take action: If your next step is an apprenticeship you can sign up to get weekly emails of local apprenticeships and other opportunities. 

Staying calm on the day

Results can be a stressful time. But there are lots of steps that you can take to support your mental well-being. Reduce feelings of stress or anxiety through calming exercises like:

Many people also find that helping their friends helps them. Taking time to reconnect with people getting results at the same time as you. Plan something you enjoy doing for after you get results, and make sure you do it no matter what your results are.

Take action: Taking 'me-time' and doing things that you enjoy is also a great way to boost your mood and support your well-being.

If self-help isn't enough and we need extra support, there are lots of places that you can find support. You can access support from your School Health Nurse or GP or online.
