EHCP support at age 18+

You do not need to disclose you have an EHCP when applying for jobs. But letting your employer know allows them to better support you. 

Disability Confident Scheme

The Disability Confident scheme supports employers to employ and keep disabled people in work. It's a scheme that helps disabled people fulfil their potential.

Support into employment

There is lots of support available to help you progress in employment. This includes:

• The Oxfordshire Employment Service which helps people with disabilities find and keep jobs
• Your local Jobcentre Plus who can can provide additional information and advice
• And Yellow Submarine who supports young people with additional needs

Mencap's supported internship and work experience opportunities can also help young people make the transition from education to work​

Financial support 

Financial support is also available to help young people with an EHCP progress into employment. This includes:  

• The 16-19 Bursary Fund, which supports the most financially disadvantaged 16 to 19-year-olds. If you have an EHCP, you can apply for funding from the bursary aged 19 and over.
• Access to Work, a government grant that helps pay for: Travel if you can’t use public transport, special equipment, a support worker or job coach

Supported Internships

A supported internship is a training programme for young people with an EHCP. It gives you the opportunity to work with an employer, experience work, spend time at college, and have access to a job coach.
