Volunteering with scouts

An introduction to scouting and volunteering with them.

Scouting is an awesome opportunity to learn and experience real life problem solving together, to learn new skills and to make you a more exiting and knowledgeable person.

At scouts we have many ages from squirrels to explorers to leaders. All leaders are volunteers, but we can never have too many!

Why its valuable, and what do I gain?

Scouting gives young people a sense of adventure and intrigue, as well as lifelong skills that will help them in whatever career path they choose. Scouting has lots of opportunities to do so many interesting and fun things such as;

  • Backpack trekking and hiking
  • Abseiling
  • Swimming
  • Cycling
  • Canoeing
  • Camping
  • Axe and tomahawk throwing
  • Archery and French arrows

If you are interested and want to find out more about all the awesome and challenging things we do visit Scouts.

What have I learnt from scouting?

I have been all the way through scouts from beavers to now a young leader. It has taught me skills that I use day to day as well as influencing me to want to be more involved in nature and has made me a much more confident and sociable person.

If you ask my opinion I would say to get involved as soon as you can, it is a very useful and ideal way to get easily accessible and fun experiences to learn from.
