Young people can leave home at 16, but most choose to stay living with their family. If you decide to move out before you turn 18, your parents still have a legal duty to keep you safe – including making sure you have somewhere suitable to live.
If you are thinking about moving out it is crucial to talk with the adults in your household and your parents or carers.
If you need to move out, Citizens Advice have information on support available, including for young people.
