Getting work ready

You can get started on this as soon as you finish your exams, or even earlier if this works for you!

Things to do:

  1. Ask people you know about opportunities
  2. Make an appointment and register online with Job Centre Plus
  3. Attend job fairs 

People often find it easy to set particular times of the day or week to look for opportunities. 

Things to know:

  1. You will proof of ID and address (like a bill in your name)
  2. You will need a bank account
  3. You will need your National Insurance number

You can still get an appointment at the Job Centre Plus before you have these in place.

Staying motivated

Finding and applying for jobs can sometimes feel like a challenge. But finding ways to stay motivated and having a positive outlook can help, this can include:

  1. Setting regular time aside to apply for opportunities
  2. Setting a clear and achievable goals
  3. Surrounding yourself with supportive friends and family

It's also important to take extra care of your mental wellbeing and make time for the things you enjoy.
