As part of Make A Difference (MAD) Week 2026, we welcomed four inspiring young people from Larkmead School to County Hall.
During their visit, they learned more about local government in Oxfordshire, the services the county council provides, and the range of career opportunities available within local government.
Hearing what young people have to say
The visit also gave us the chance to hear directly from young people about what matters most to them and other young people across Oxfordshire.
We asked:
- What topics matter to you?
- What news article topics interest you?
- What type of events interest you?
- What services would matter to you, and can you access them?

They told us
The young people highlighted a number of topics that are important to them, including education, transport, health, council budgets and elections.
They also told us that education, healthcare, transport and information about politics and local decision-making were particularly important.
There was also interest in seeing more news and information about health and wellbeing, social issues, and opportunities for young people.
