Description

About the role

Bookclub volunteers play a crucial role in building children’s confidence in not only reading but speaking and writing skills too. They provide sessions where the children can talk about the books they’ve read, do some book-related activities and learn to choose books for themselves and read for pleasure. This also develops a reading habit. This role is great for anyone who likes working with children, has some time to prepare the sessions and wants to make a difference!

What we need from you

Our Bookclub role requires someone who is enthusiastic and willing to commit time to both organising and delivering a session (usually once a month). Sessions normally last between an hour and an hour 30 mins. Each session will vary, but the simple format of sharing what the children have read, doing book related activities and choosing new books will be the same.

We will ask for a reference when you apply for the role, and you will need to be at least 18 years old.
